The students at August Martin celebrated Earth Day during group with school counselor, Ms. Cris. The students had the opportunity to discuss the many ways to help save the earth, and they each come up with three different ideas and strategies to help save the planet by improving the environment in which they live. They colored the planet earth and wrote their ideas down on colored hearts as they built wind chimes. This activity was used as a social emotional learning experience, and it was very calming. One student said, “I really liked doing the project on Earth Day. We are the future of this world, and we must start thinking about how we can improve the earth that we live on.”
